His Gift of Love

Awaken To His Praise, His Worship, For Now!

In 2007, the Lord gave me this word and I wrote out what follows below. I ran across it again this evening and realized that this is already beginning to take place. There is, however, a very real concern, no, a very real growing burden that there will be, as there always seems to be, those who will stubbornly or even defiantly remain in what they know and have known for however long and won’t be open to nor respond appropriately to His, our Lord and Saviors call.

I pray the Lord will rise up and once again confirm His Word for His People to Awake and Arise in His Worship. May He continue to break forth His Anointing for His Worship, His Prophetic Worship Within and Through His Church. May we all by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit surrender to all that He is saying and bless the Lord, doing today! May we once again so deeply hunger and thirst for the Lord Jesus Christ to have His Way With Us All, that we indeed not only cry out but yield, surrender in eyes wide open genuine and authentic saving faith. Blessed be the Lord Jesus Christ!

Let Us Arise, Yet Again!

There is so very much more than we are experiencing in and of Christ Jesus. There is so very much more of the Kingdom of God than we know or understand. There is so very much more of life in the Spirit than we are living out on a daily basis. There simply is so very much more yet to do and that needs to be done; I for one, long to know, do and experience the more. I also am haunted by what I have known, have accomplished or think I know. I also understand how tempting, as I get older, it is to remain in what I have come to know and experience.

What I mean is, that what I have known, done or think I know of Christ Jesus and the Kingdom of God, seems at times to get in the way of the more. It gets in the way by having captured my attention, my heart and the battles that were for or needed to contend for it has passed. Yesterdays victories become all too easily today’s excuses. As I look forward to the more, this means more battles, contending, more stretching, more dying, more of that which we already and all too often resist in our growing in the Lord Jesus Christ. This looking forward seems to be less and less attractive when I honestly consider the cost of the past. While I know that nothing of what life and ministry has cost us compares to that sacrifice of Christ Jesus, it still, for us remains a very tangible, real and essential counting of the cost. We have given our all so many times, yet the call remains, to surrender our all yet once again.

Bring It On World!

It wasn’t all that long ago when I was reading an article on the World Magazine web site titled “R is for Religion[1]”, written by Gene Edward Veith. He was making us aware of the very real possibility of a day sometime soon when we will find ourselves as Christians rated in the same way that sex, nudity and violence is rated, with a warning, “you are entering a strongly religious zone in which the messages are from one religion and therefore might indeed be offensive to those of other faiths or even those with no faith at all.”

Within this article the question is asked, “Why are references to Christ so offensive?” and then he goes on to explain, “In today’s climate, religion is relative. According to the conventional wisdom, no one religion is true for everyone, and all religions are equally valid. Mention of a generic “God” is acceptable, as long as He is not defined. So is invocation of other concepts common to various religions, such as prayer, spirituality, mystical experiences, and salvation by good works.

But Jesus Christ is too specific. God in the flesh is too tangible. And He says, “No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). That Jesus—despite His goodness and love—offends people is simply more evidence that the Bible is true. He is “a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense” (1 Peter 2:8). That He died on the cross for our sins is especially offensive (Galatians 5:11).

So no one should be surprised when secularists react to Jesus with shock and outrage. But “blessed is the one who is not offended by me” (Matthew 11:6).

Personal Mentoring/Discipleship, Pt Two

We need to disciple/mentor those whom the Lord Jesus would have us to. Therefore we need to seek the Lord as to whom He wants us to disciple/mentor and then how He wants this person to be mentored. It is then that we can begin this process with the confidence of His blessing and provision. We may and most likely will, stumble around at first. We may make it too academic and not enough of a relational experience. We may, depending on who we are, go the other way and want to make it so relational that we fail to hold our mentoree accountable and disciplined along the way. Regardless, if we will obediently give ourselves to this wonderful, albeit sometimes very trying process, we will discover the wonderful fruit of it; the joys of watching those entrusted to us, growing up into their role within their own lives, families and the Body of Christ Jesus at large. We will also have the wonderful hope of building a relationship for life.

What is Crucifixion?

A medical doctor provides a physical description of a crucifixion:

The cross is placed on the ground and the exhausted man is quickly thrown backwards with his shoulders against the wood. The legionnaire feels for the depression at the front of the wrist. He drives a heavy, square wrought iron nail through the wrist deep into the wood. Quickly he moves to the other side and repeats the action, being careful not to pull the arms too tightly, but to allow some flex and movement. The cross is then lifted into place. The left foot is press backward against the right foot, and with both feet extended, toes down, a nail is driven through the arch of each through the heel, leaving the knees flexed. The victim is now crucified.

A Clear Evidence That Is Steadfast and Enduring

2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 (NKJV) We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,

“We are bound to thank God always for you”, speaks of that deep sense of obligation that Paul is feeling towards those in the church of Thessalonica. Me we all be bound to always to give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for each other. This is true and is a very powerful tool of relationship. Oh the lives which are transformed through thanksgiving before the Lord God, rather than by our complaining, attacking, criticizing, etc.

Until Another Day, Dad

My father passed quietly away last night, March 8, 2011, entering into his eternal rest with ours and his Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

Our father will be deeply missed and long remembered. He deeply loved the Lord Jesus Christ and his family.

My Tribute To Dad:

Thank you dad for all the years and lessons learned. Thank you dad for sharing so generously and often tenderly or at other times so very passionately, your love for the Lord, your music, and your understandings of God’s wonderful grace. Thank you dad for the quickness with which you were able to forgive us all.

Thank you for your willingness to share all that was on your heart and mind and your deep desire to leave all of your family a rich and lasting inheritance. While the inheritance you have left us is not the one you gave your life so earnestly to attain, it truly is so very rich, most certainly everlasting and one for which we are and will be eternally grateful.

Thank you dad, we love you and already miss you so very much as well. However, we are genuinely rejoicing with you as you are now in the very presence of He who is and was so much a vital part of your life and living.

The Baptism of God’s Love

1 John 3:10 (NKJV) In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

It is said of the Apostle John, that when he was very old and had to be carried on a stretcher to church that one day after the service the young men asked John for a Word from the Lord. He is said to have raised himself up on one elbow and said “Love one another”. The young men were very frustrated by this. “John”, they said, “you always say this” to which John then replies, “If you do this that is enough”.[1]

It was 1980, Colorado Springs, Colorado. We had just recently moved our family there after our first pioneer work had closed under difficult circumstances. We had hoped that we would be able to begin another work in Colorado Springs however the Lord had something else in store for us. We would become participants in a rather miraculous event in the life of a church there.
