Angels

Are You Ready For This?

Matthew 17:1-2 (ESV) And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.

Jesus was transfigured before them; that which was inwardly true of him became outwardly evident or manifest. The light came from within him and shone outwardly, dispelling anything of darkness around him, around them.

I want to share with you two incidents in my life that illustrate this powerful reality.

One day I walked into a very old building alone, a building that at one time had been used for worship. As I walked into this building there was a very real and intense sense of heaviness, of darkness, of evil, all around me. This place was not as it once been.

A Dam, A Loch and His Victory

While ministering in beautiful Scotland, there were a couple of days wherein an American couple (Richard and Susan) and I went to the Highlands. After spending the night in a B&B, we arose to a new a beautiful new day, setting ourselves to go forth and face the day that the Lord had prepared for us. As for myself, I was excited to get on with it and wondered what awesomeness of the Lord Jesus Christ I would be blessed and privileged to partake of. Finally, after breakfast and some pictures, we were off. We headed out to find a road, we were told would, take us further up into the Highlands.

We had, had an urging that we believed to be from the Lord Jesus. We felt Him setting our agenda. So, off we went. It wasn’t long before we found the side road we were looking for and immediately began our assent further up, ever up, into the Highlands of beautiful Scotland.

This terrain was simply awesome. I was so excited to see more of this nation that I had been coming to for so long now. After a brief stop at a park like area, we discerned that we were to continue along the road we had begun. So, we no sooner got out of the car than we were back into it headed along the road and across the Highlands.

A Prelude To Four Years Of Warfare

There is more to prayer than all too often meets the eyes of our understanding. I was out on the west coast and at a prayer center where I had spent most of the day in prayer. It had been a wonderful time of resting in and before the Lord Jesus. It was beautiful day, warm and quiet and, re-enlivening.

2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (ESV) So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

Yet what made the day even more wonderful and life-giving was having spent it in prayer, in worship and in the word of God, quietly and physically alone. I was so very grateful for this time of solitude in and with the Lord Jesus as I was not very familiar with this area and needed His perspective regarding it, for we were still very new there.

After several hours I got up and went outside. This place of prayer was on a small rise. I stopped and looked around at the surrounding hills, the valley ahead and the river running past. As I stood there, I was suddenly caught up in a vision. I could see mighty angels on the ridges of the hills, on both sides of the valley, east and west. They were definitely at the ready. The horses were eager to go forward into whatever battle that lay just ahead.

Crossing A Point of No Return

How does one cross a point of no return? First of all, one would need to know that there was such a point and where that point was. I was confronted with just this reality for myself on a Saturday evening, May 5th, 2007, when I was fellowshipping with other believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, while in Scotland. The Lord had spoken so clearly to me about the weeks of ministry ahead in Scotland prior to my coming and shortly after my arrival. Right after I had  arrived in this wonderful nation, the Lord Jesus revealed to me my first insight for which I was to be ready for. It was simply this: He showed me that I would come to a point, a line, in which I would have to make a decision, a decision that carried the weight of crossing over a point of no return.

I had no clear idea when, where, how or at what point this moment of decision would come across my path. All I knew was that this would in deed take place, that it was important. Therefore I needed to be ready for it. Immediately I began praying into this forth coming event in my life.

In His timing, this point of decision did come to pass. The Lord Jesus, in a way I could not have imagined, brought things together, with such clarity, power and yet such subtly, that I knew I was at His specific place, time and moment, the moment of my decision. Would I cross over, or would I choose to play it safe, staying where I already was?

The Vitalness of His Manifest Presence

Exodus 33:14-16 (ESV) And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15 And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. 16 For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?”

Here in Exodus we see that the presence of the Lord was so vital to Moses that he said to the Lord that if the Lord was not going to come with them, then don’t send Israel up to the Promise Land. The Lord offered earlier to send up an Angel who would assure them of the fulfillment of the Lord’s promise in providing them the Promise Land. For Moses this was not enough. He wanted the Lord’s presence, not simply the presence of an Angel no matter how great the Angel was.

I find this so very significant for us today as well. The evidence of Gods manifest presence with and amongst His people is both that which confirms the favor of God concerning His people and that which makes them distinct from the rest of the World. This distinction is vital for us as the people of God. We’re to be in, yet not of the world. The question remains however, how far shall we go without His manifest, evident, or tangible presence?

Where Do We Go From Here?

Lord Jesus, where do we go from here? You have warned us and continue to do so. You are calling us to awaken to that for which we were chosen for, by your grace and mercy. You are calling us to come up, and behold the greater realities of and the more of your Spirit, to which we have responded by your grace and mercy, with Yes, Lord Jesus, A Thousand Times, Yes! You have warned us of things to come that will stretch us beyond our experience and understanding. You have warned us of the persecution that is yet before us, as your people and we are seeing even on the horizon before us. You have warned us of the significant changes that are going to take place within our nation, to which we said, Lord Jesus have mercy and prepare us as we look and continue to look only unto you, who is our only genuine hope. Still Lord Jesus, where do we go from here?

You have shown us the church, and its condition of deafness and darkness, of light and hope, of its growing apostasy and yet of its calling to grow in the transcendency of your Holy Spirit. You have shown us that which lay behind the presentations in too many professing churches and ministries which is not and are not, of you. We have seen the truth of the lies which are there, of the deceit and deceptions, and of the ease with which too many of your professing believers are being seduced into these falsehoods. Yet, you also have shown us the more of your transcendent promises and of your call to us your people, your children. Oh, again, Lord Jesus, we cry out, where do we go from here?

A Call To Seeing The More

Acts 22:14-15 (NKJV) Then he said, ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth. 15 For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.

A couple of years ago, we were in another country on a prayer walk. We had left that morning to go on this prayer walk and I was excited because of what the Lord had showed the evening before in prayer. As a result, I was walking rather briskly as we headed out towards the place of prayer that we were going to be at this morning. It was a historical place, an ancient place and a very spiritually strategic place for the area.

We arrived at this high point in the area and we began immediately to engage the Lord in prayer and intercession. As we began to engage the Lord is this place, we sought only to be obedient to Lord, following His leading in how, what and to whatever end the Lord would have us to pray.

The Power of His Spirit Words, Pt Two

As promised, here is the next post in this series of three posts. So, let us pick up from where we left off yesterday.

Deuteronomy 22:9 (NKJV) “You shall not sow your vineyard with different kinds of seed, lest the yield of the seed which you have sown and the fruit of your vineyard be defiled.

The Lord is saying here that we are not to sow different kinds of seed into our vineyards or lives. Now I know that He is actually speaking here, in this text, of the actual process of planting/sowing seed in a vineyard. However, we can see an application here as it relates to the sowing of the Spirit Word of God.

We are not called to sow different kinds of seeds or words: i.e. man’s words, thoughts, feelings,  ideas, etc. No. This is simply because what you sow is what you grow (See Gal 6:7-8). If you sow His Holy Spirit Empowered Words they will bring forth His Holy Spirit empowered Life. If you sow that which  is simply of man, man empowered words, ideas, thoughts, etc.  They will only bring forth what is of man, of his flesh. Hence, there is only one kind of seed that we are called to plant in His vineyard, in our hearts and lives, as well as in the hearts and lives of His people. It is simply His Spirit Word, His Holy Spirit Empowered Word bringing forth His Holy Spirit empowered Life. This is the true seeds of the Kingdom of God and it is this seed that we must be sure we are planting.

The Power of His Spirit Words, Pt One

“We are called to sow”, I heard a preacher, whom I respect, just recently speak out in one of his messages. However, for me on that specific day, these words deeply resonated within me, coming alive and impacting my life. I suddenly realized in the twinkling of a moment, that I am called to be a sower and not a reaper.

While others may be called to something else, I suddenly knew that I am and have always been called to be simply, a Sower of the Word of God. The call is to cast forth the Spirit Word of God whenever , wherever ,  and unto whomever the Lord directs. He will see His Words bring forth the fruit of His intended purposes. There is and was suddenly for me, such a liberty and new found convergence. Surprising you might say. Yes, very surprising I would say. I am 60 yrs old and just now, at this moment, I have heard these words, with a personal Holy Spirit understanding, as if for the very first time in my life. Thank you Lord Jesus, thank you.

I have always struggled to describe my calling in the Lord Jesus Christ. I have had many labels attributed to me by others, good and bad, with some I have even tried to put on myself. In the end, none of them seem to truly fit. I only knew that I was a man of God called to the purposes of God and for me, this was enough or so I finally tried to convince myself. However, in truth, there was always a nagging lack of clarity for me. Now with this sudden clarity, my whole life seemed to simplify, open up and actually make sense in way, that as of late, it hasn’t. This is the power of His Holy Spirit Words being revealed to us as He, our Lord and Savior is Now Speaking them. Thank you Lord Jesus for your Spirit Words of clarity, of order and of peace, that are so deeply resonating and powerfully coming alive within me, your humble servant Lord Jesus. Again, thank you!

The Breath of Eternity

John 20:21-22 (NKJV) So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Sometime ago my Dad wrote a wonderful song, one of several, called The Breath of Eternity. It is a wonderful song.

The words go something like this:

1st Verse:

“There was never a time in all ages past when events would bring change so eternally last, a time meant forever in world History, it was the time when we were touched by the Breath of Eternity.”

Chorus:

“Touched forever, touched forever, we been touch by the Breath of Eternity, one when Jesus reached out to redeem you and me, in that moment we were touched by the Breath of Eternity.”

2 Verse:

“We can now through the blood stand before our father’s throne, free from our guilt through His righteousness alone, into His likeness transformed we shall be, for sense darkness and despair were washed away at Calvary.”

So why am I posting this here today, besides my simply desiring to share another of my Father’s songs with you? Well, to tell you, some time ago I awoke while in the midst of a dream in which I was singing to my Lord Jesus Christ. The words were few and repeating but they arose as a strong breath up from deep within me, rising ever upward and outward unto my Lord Jesus Christ. While the words seemed to fade away quickly, they were something along these lines in thought and feeling: “I want to know you,” as in I want to know you more and more and more, etc. They arose strongly from up within me, over and over for the rest of the night. They became my living breath, as it were even for the rest of the morning, until the alarm went off early that very day.
