The Anointings of The Lord Jesus Christ

1 John 2:20 “But you have been anointed by the Holy One, …” ESV

I have never been a very good writer, this is to my much pondering regret. However, every now and again it seems that the Lord Jesus sees fit to give me some thing of value to write, pouring out upon it His fresh anointing. When He does this it comes alive and seems to carry upon the very words themselves, a dimension of power and life that is only possible through the Lord Jesus Christ. While this doesn’t in anyway make me a better writer, it does encourage me that what has been written has its source in the Lord Jesus Christ.

So much is it my desire to be and do all things under the Lord’s anointing, that whatever I do, say, and in this case write, bothers me deeply when I realize that it isn’t or might not be genuinely anointed. In all honesty, I truly realize that not everything I do, say and write is actually anointed of the Lord Jesus Christ!

The Wonder of Genuine Thanksgiving

Psa 50:23 The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” ESV

During this afternoon’s reflection, I thought it would be of value to post something that is a reminder to each and every one of us, that so clearly reflects our being and becoming a people who are authentically a people of Thanksgiving. I also would at the same time offer something of the power and significance of genuine Godly thankfulness.

It is amazing how when we allow ourselves to get caught up in the everyday stresses of life and living, along with the corresponding fears, anxieties, worries, etc., just how easy it is for us to move away from an attitude and posture of Thanksgiving and Thankfulness. We are called to in all things give Thanks, especially unto our Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. In truth, we are called to offer to the Lord our sacrifices of Thanksgiving (Ps 50:14, 23; 107:22; Heb 13:15) simply because He is so very worthy of such a sacrifice through us His people. Yet, it is also truly difficult to give Thanks when consumed with all of our stresses and fears, worries, resentments, jealousies, anger and frustrations, or just the distractions of every day life and living. Thanksgiving doesn’t even seem to enter our conscious thought when these other things are present and dominate our heart and thoughts.

The Family, The Church in Miniature, Pt Three

We continue our discussion today with a couple of scriptures out of First Timothy.

1 Tim 3:4-6 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? ESV

1 Tim 3:12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. ESV

Paul is expounding here, in this well-known passage, on the essential requirements and or qualifications of an Elder and then a Deacon as well. He is stating in these verses specifically, that how we lead, stand before, or manage our families is crucial to whether or not we are a possible candidate for eldership.
