Churches and The Lord’s Angels

The Lord occasionally opens my eyes to see things of the spirit, good and not so good. This is no less interesting when it takes place within a place of worship, our worship of the Lord Jesus Christ while in a church, a home group, a ministry center, or the like. I have seen resident angels assigned to particular churches and ministries in a variety of ways. I have seen angels posted outside of a church and I have seen angels posted inside of churches, both again in a variety of different ways. I am sure that for each of these situations there is a variety of different reasons for their being there. I have also seen angels that come for the moment, for a particular time of worship or ministry, for the Lord’s specifically assigned purposes.

Seeing angels is something that I admit blesses me and in many ways is humbling. It just suddenly happens but this is not something that I have sought out, seek or pursue after as I truly know there are very real dangers with such pursuits. I wouldn’t want to wrongly encourage anyone to try to see angels, period. My only intent is to share what I have seen and heard to the glory, honor and praise of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

As stated, I have seen different kinds of angels with what I am sure are different kinds of purposes or assignments. I do not always understand why the Lord has opened up my eyes to see and occasionally hear them. I just know that he has. Sometimes it seems that I need to see them in order to understand what it is that the Lord is doing in a specific situation. Other times, well, I am not sure why, except simply as a point of awareness, to know that they are there doing His, our Lord and Savior’s, bidding.

A Stirring Within

What to say but that there suddenly arose within me this afternoon, a stirring. Yes, a stirring deep within me. A longing as it were for more, for what is yet to be found in through the Lord Jesus Christ. I saw a glimpse of something in the Spirit and this stirring has arisen from that brief glimpse. May the Lord Jesus open all that is within me to see, hear and know all that He desires to reveal. Oh yes, open me up to you and your unfolding wisdom, knowing and unveiling. Yes, Lord Jesus, open me up to all that you would, for your greater glory, honor and praise. Even so come Lord Jesus, come.

In All Things, At All Times…

1 Corinthians 7:17 (ESV) Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.

1 Corinthians 7:24 (ESV) So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.

I have not Pastored since 2004. What I have been doing is varied, especially in regards to the ministry call upon my life. However, my life has been mostly filled these later years with simply making a living. First it was working in a factory and then after being laid off, moving to Ohio and working once again working in the construction industry as a carpenter, handyman, jack of all trades but king of none.

Unto The End, Really?

2Ti 4:7 ESV I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

The overall issue for each and every one of us will not be that we will have started out well. No. Rather it will be whether we ended well, or not. In all honesty, beginning well is important, continuing well is also important, but finishing well is crucial for each of us. To simply assume that we will end well and finish well is foolish. So, while our ending well is crucial, it isn’t automatic.

Angels Along Our Way

The first time I saw angels being stationed at every point that I took a step, was, well, it was awesome. We had just recently moved to Goshen, Indiana. I had been here a few times back in the eighties for some ministry time, but this time was more about a season of our transitioning from one kind of ministry unto another one, from Pastoring, to Itinerant.

We had never done anything like this before. It had taken every last penny, literally, to get to this town and we knew that it was only a lay over until the Lord revealed where our next step would be and provided the means whereby we could move.

Will We Stand, Really?

Luke 22:33-34 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” 34 Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.” ESV

Peter actually thought he was ready to face what was just before him, but indeed he wasn’t. He had no experiential idea what it was that would soon take place. He had walked with Jesus for three plus years, day in and day out. He had experienced the anointing, the powerful presence of Almighty God in signs and wonders. He had experienced with Jesus, conflict with the leadership of the day, but not what was very shortly going to take place in the garden and beyond. Yet, in and through all he experienced with the Lord Jesus on the earth, he was still not ready to face that which was before him; “Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”

A Genuine Believer Is…?

Being a genuine believer in Christ Jesus has to be more than my simply saying that I am; than this being evidenced by simply attending church, even regularly, saying the right words, hanging out with other professing believers and even reading my Bible. No, being an authentic believer, blood bought and washed, Holy Spirit filled and sanctified, in and through the Lord Jesus Christ, must have more evidence than simply this or even these kinds of things. Anyone can walk this kind of behavior out and not actually even know the Lord Jesus Christ for real, as has been proven over and over again through the years. True Salvation must have the evidence of God’s miraculous working; the evidence of a transformed soul, heart and life in the Lord Jesus Christ. There must be the evidence of a heart and life truly turned towards the Lord Jesus, in spirit and truth.

Core Beliefs and Our Words Are Not Always Equal

*** (Please be patient as I briefly lay out a line of understanding in the paragraphs below that helps address this issue. Stick with it and it will become much clearer as you read through it all.)***

We oh so very often say that we are men and women of Prayer, of the Word and of Communion in and with the Lord Jesus Christ, but are we, really, truly?

Mark 1:35 And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. ESV
