I have enjoyed such a sweet time in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Word this morning. During this time I found myself reflecting and studying once again the Word as it relates to Authentic God Faith and God’s Righteousness.
1 Pet 1:7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
We learn from the Holy Scriptures that genuine faith is linked inseparably to righteousness as two sides of one coin. Where genuine God faith is, the genuine righteousness of God also is. Where the genuine righteousness of God is, genuine God faith is as well. (See Rom 4:3-5 ff)
As I seek the Lord and the glory of His person, I am all too often confronted with His people, us. And what I am most often confronted with is the reality that our lives and living too often reflect a very real contradiction with who He our Lord and Savior genuinely is and how He has called us to walk out our lives here in the earth. I don’t know about you, but this deeply grieves and burdens me.
Below we will be looking at Colossians 1:9-10. I love this epistle (letter) of Paul’s and the Lord has used it often to speak into my life and living. But first let me begin with a quick jump to 1 John 2:6,
“whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”
When I was young and just beginning in the ministry, I spent a lot of the time keeping vision, gifting, ministry and a calling before the congregation. I did this all in the name of the Lord Jesus as well. The problem was that I lifted these things up before the people in His name primarily, but I hadn’t lifted up the Lord Jesus Christ primarily. I had put all of those things first, in His name. He then showed me that if I had lifted Him up first and primarily, He would have granted them all of these things as His fruitfulness over time and not as mine.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Let me state from the on set that I genuinely want what I write here to be “of” the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore for His greater glory, honor and praise. As He says in John’s gospel,
John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. ESV
Yes, I do not want this work to simply be a work of my flesh, my own natural ability or inability. Rather, I so deeply desire that this work would be a reflection of Him, my Lord and Savior by the power of the Holy Spirit. Yes, I desperately need for this work to be a Work of the Spirit and therefore a Work of Life, His life, imparted unto us His people.
Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” ESV
In a day and age when political correctness seems to be the rule, anyone being seen as exclusive is thought of in a bad way. I must admit that the title of this post would definitely fall into the category of exclusive, however I would share that what I have to say below is without any sense of apology, regret, shame or embarrassment at this proclamation. For in truth, this proclamation has been being made about the Lord Jesus Christ and the Lord God Almighty and God the Holy Spirit for thousands of years. In fact, Put Simply, There Is No Other Name.
